Gratitude for our town

By

Dear Editor:

It seems as time goes by in the year 2016, Canton has lost many people through accidents and unexpected deaths.

My son, Allan J. Doody Jr., was one of those people. He lived in Virginia and he was brought home to be buried with his father. The outpouring of cards, flowers, food and phone calls were overwhelming.

At the end of the wake my daughter-in-law turned to me and said, “Mom, how lucky you are to live in a town that shows so much love and compassion for their people.” What a wakeup call that was for me. We are so concerned about the tax rate, the water bills, and road conditions we don’t realize what we have in Canton — people. Kind, generous, and caring people.

So my family and I thank those people for their kindness to us at the loss of my son, a brother, a husband, and a father.

Sincerely,

Anne Doody and family
