Five Bulldog football players to play college ball

CHS football coach Dave Bohane was pleased to announce that five Bulldog seniors have been recruited and accepted by college programs — the highest total during Bohane’s recent coaching tenure of six years.
Advancing to the collegiate level are Woanyen Mahn, cornerback, Wesleyan University, where he will be joining former CHS alumnus Elias Camacho; Jake Ragusa, strong safety, Merrimack College; Joe Bires, linebacker, Mass Maritime; Mac Brown, fullback, Dickinson College; and Kymauny Roland, defensive lineman, Hudson Valley Community College of New York.
“It is very exciting and satisfying for me as coach to see the kids do the necessary work to get to this point,” said Bohane.
Bohane also mentioned other recent CHS alumni who are doing well in college programs, including James Bourikas, who is a linebacker at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Sterlin Garvin, a tailback at Fitchburg State University; and Dexter Green, a defensive back at UMass Dartmouth.
Bohane also listed some upcoming events for his football team. All returning players are invited to the Mass. State Coaches Football Combine at Gillette Stadium on May 15 for testing. Additionally, 15 CHS linemen will be participating in the Linemen Challenge at Cardinal Spellman on June 9, and the individual weightlifting tests for all players will begin around June 10 in the CHS weight room.
The CHS turf field will be the home of the 2016 regional 7×7 passing camp, held every Tuesday evening during the summer. Canton will face Westwood, Mansfield, Foxboro, Milton, Norwood, and Oliver Ames. A schedule and starting times will be announced at a later date.
The CHS Alumni Horseshoe Tournament, to benefit the CHS Athletic Booster Club, will be held June 11 at 3 p.m. at the Canton Town Club. Registration is $75 per team. Call Dave Bohane for more information at 781-603-3599.
