Water restrictions to take effect in Canton May 1

By

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs is requiring the town of Canton to prohibit nonessential outdoor water use between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. starting May 1, 2016, through October 1, 2016. The need to limit water use, especially nonessential outdoor water use, is to ensure a sustainable drinking water supply and to protect natural resources. Nonessential water use includes:

* Irrigation of lawns and sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems

* Washing of vehicles, except in a commercial car wash

* Washing of the exterior of buildings, surfaces, parking lots, driveways or sidewalks
