Questions for proposed marijuana dispensary

By

Dear Editor:

Having a license for medical marijuana, I have a few questions/comments about the proposed dispensary off Route 138 that town officials are currently reviewing:

  1. Knowing the dangers of smoking anything because of the damage it does to your lungs, I would strongly suggest that we emphasize the cannabis edibles over the weed smoking.
  2. Having bought my oil and candy bars in Brockton, I believe their process of locking people in and out is an excellent process if it is followed.
  3. On the other hand, having experimented myself in the 60s and raised five children with 15 grandchildren, I recognize the “challenge” presented to the younger generation by pot growing within Canton town limits. I would hate for any child to be shot or injured climbing a fence or such because of this company’s emphasis on ‘security.’ And before this venture is approved, I’d like to see in place precisely what procedures their serious security people would take should a child be seen attempting to enter. It would be embarrassing to say the least for a child to be killed trying to get into a marijuana field because of a trigger-happy security guard.
  4. We need to spend a few years getting used to medical marijuana before we jump to recreational. Driving while under the influence is still a hazard even if it’s from going too slowly.
  5. Will they have a bakery onsite?
  6. I paid $200 for the license and $50 for the exam. I found the doctor to be thorough and professional. There was no way I could have lied and gotten that license.
