Judge Rotenberg Ctr. evacuated after bomb threat calls

By

The Canton Fire Department evacuated two buildings at the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center on Turnpike Street last Tuesday afternoon after the center received two separate bomb threats via telephone. A staff member activated the fire alarm box to alert students to an evacuation. The Fire Department searched both buildings and found nothing. Fire Lt. Greg Woodbury said students were dismissed for the day.

Neponset St. Dunkin Donuts temporarily closed

The Dunkin Donuts on Neponset Street was closed for a short period on Friday afternoon, March 11, due to smoke caused by a malfunctioning portable oven. The oven was removed from the building and the store was reopened after the smoke had dissipated. In another call, paramedics assisted the Randolph Fire Department in responding to a car fire at the intersection of routes 93 and 24 on Monday, March 14, around 12:30 a.m. A car rear-ended the back of a tractor-trailer and a fire ensued. Firefighters extricated the driver of the car and the victim was transported to South Shore Hospital. Firefighters used a dry chemical agent to extinguish the fire, said Lt. Greg Woodbury.
