Canton well represented on 1st American Landscape tour

By

Dear Editor:

I wanted to take a moment to thank all the Canton residents who were participants in the inaugural “On the Road with American Landscape” bus tour to the Last Green Valley in Connecticut on October 1. While the 55 passengers hailed from places far and wide, such as Rhode Island, Boston, the north shore, and western Mass., I was pleased to know that the largest contingent was from my hometown of Canton.

As tour director, it is my responsibility to create each travel experience. Rather than selecting prepackaged tours from a brochure and putting our name on it, each tour is individually crafted. All the potential destinations and stops are researched personally before a particular tour is finalized.

A significant effort is made to incorporate stops or include tours of properties often overlooked or not known to or unavailable to other tour companies. Sometimes we will be the first tour bus ever to stop at a particular property.

While I never imagined I would be embarking on a venture such as this, I credit in part my experience many years ago organizing the historic trolley tours here in Canton and more recently in Milton.

The next tour is our Cape Cod Holiday Tour on Friday, December 4, with stops in Falmouth at the historic Highfield Hall and Gardens for “Holiday at Highfield.” We will be one of the first tour buses to visit since completion of an $8 million restoration. Then it’s off to Sandwich for lunch at the Daniel Webster Inn and on to the Thornton Burgess Society and the Jam Kitchen before arriving at Heritage Museum and Gardens for Gardens Aglow.

I have scheduled an exciting variety of tours for 2016 and hope to see many more Canton residents aboard.

Sincerely,

Peter Pineo

Tour Director, On the Road with Jim Zoppo’s American Landscape
