William J. McDaid, 81, of Canton, passed away December 29 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lexington, he was raised in Dorchester and graduated from the High School of Commerce in Boston. As a young man Bill was proud of the fact that he earned the designation of an Eagle Scout. He attended Boston College and served in the Army in the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C., during the Korean War. He ran the family insurance business, McDaid Insurance, in Canton for over 40 years …
