Song, a junior captain, completed the 5K course with an impressive time of 19:59. According to head coach David Hiltz, this was the second straight year that Song qualified for the All-State meet, which features some of the best high school long-distance runners in the state. Compared to last year’s race, Song improved some 30 spots.

“She held her own and ran a great race,” said Hiltz.

In the sectional meet held the previous Saturday, Song finished 12th with a time of 19:40. Two weeks ago at the state coaches invitational 5K, she placed fourth overall in the 11th/12th grade race in 19:35.
