News Notes: Firefighters battle warehouse fire

Sixteen firefighters, with assistance from the Stoughton Fire Department, battled a warehouse fire at 30 Industrial Drive on Friday, October 3, around 8 p.m. No one was injured in the fire and the building was evacuated. Fire Lt. Greg Woodbury said the fire was contained to a pallet of lithium batteries; however, he said the actual origin of the fire is undetermined. The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damages due to heavy smoke, which spread throughout the warehouse. Firefighters cleared the location shortly after 10 p.m.

Brockton man arrested for damage to Devoll Field

Police arrested a 32-year-old Brockton man for allegedly crashing through a fence and driving his vehicle on the grass at Devoll Field. Police Officer Rob Quirk arrested Aderin T. Adesida and charged him with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and malicious destruction of property over $250. Police later found he had an outstanding warrant from another agency.

CFD open house set for this Saturday

The Canton Fire Department will hold an open house this Saturday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main fire station on Revere Street. Events planned include a live burning exercise, fire truck and sprinkler demonstration, a fire station tour, fire safety information, a bouncy slide, and refreshments.
