Reta M. Russell (Brooks), 81, of Stoughton, passed away July 25 at home surrounded by her loving family.

russellBorn in Somerville, she was raised in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1950. She previously lived in Canton for 25 years before moving to Stoughton in 1975. She worked for H&R Block in Stoughton for 15 years. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Canton where she served as the treasurer and was a member of the Altar Guild.

She was an avid quilter and was a member of the Crosstown Quilters in Weymouth and the Quilters Group at the Stoughton Senior Center. She loved to share her talents and teach anyone who wanted to learn how to quilt.

Beloved wife for 63 years of Donald M. Mother of Gail M. Drew of Bellingham, Thomas Bennett Russell and his wife, Lisa, of Braintree, Gary R. Russell of Wrentham, Paul Brooks Russell and his wife, Sue, of Clinton, ME, and Pamela J. Barros and her husband, Anthony, of Stoughton. Sister of Thelma Cabral of Randolph and the late Ruth Barrett, Rudolph Brooks Jr., and Constance Beck. Mother-in-law of the late John P. Drew. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Eucharist was held Tuesday, July 29, in Trinity Episcopal Church, Canton. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Stoughton Senior Center, 110 Rockland St., Stoughton, MA 02072. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
