Anthony “T.T.” Michael LaMarca, 97, of Canton, died Thursday morning, July 10, at Norwood Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born, raised and educated in East Boston, he was the son of the late Alfonse and Clorinda (Fevalo) LaMarca. A Canton resident for the past 40 years, he had also resided in Raynham and Dorchester. Mr. LaMarca had been employed as a cook at the former Zito’s Restaurant on Devonshire Street in Boston for over 35 years.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. LaMarca served with the 296th Combat Engineering Battalion in the European Theatre.

A communicant of St. John the Evangelist Parish, he had been a member of the Canton Knights of Columbus and the Canton Town Club. Mr. LaMarca’s passion was cooking and he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maria (Bruno) LaMarca. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was predeceased by his sister, Gloria LaMarca, and his brothers, Carlo, Alfred, Armando, and Orlando LaMarca.

A mass of Christian burial in celebration of Tony’s life was held in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment with honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Canton Veterans Fund, 92 Pleasant St., Canton, MA 02021, or to the St. John the Evangelist Parish, 700 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
