Breslow spoke for about 30 minutes on his journey to the Major Leagues and thanked the kids of Canton for their project as part of the foundation’s “Play it Forward” program. He spent about 10 minutes answering questions from the kids. The event was held at Crawford Field behind the Kennedy School.

The visit was a culmination of a season-long project which teams participated in to raise awareness for kids battling cancer. Canton Little League partnered with Breslow this season and each team submitted an idea to help kids with cancer. The teams then submitted photos and notes of their projects.

The winning team was the Minor League Cubs, coached by Jason Shatkin. Children on the winning team were able to get their picture taken with the Red Sox pitcher, and Breslow is going to personalize an autograph for each player. Jack Flaherty came up with the team’s idea and received the honor of catching the first pitch that Breslow threw prior to the game that followed the event. The highlight for Flaherty was being asked by Breslow for an autograph after he threw out the first pitch.

Canton Little League President Lou Tarmy presented Breslow and his wife, Kelly, with two Canton Little League windbreakers and a check for $1,000 to the Strike 3 Foundation. The Breslows were so thankful for the support of the Little League and were so impressed with the thoughtful ideas from the kids. Breslow, a Yale graduate, stressed to the kids the importance of academics and teamwork. It was a perfect spring day in Canton as the kids and parents got to see a Red Sox player in their hometown.
