By Mike BergerA Portland, Oregon man is facing drug distribution charges after he was arrested this week in Canton with a large amount of marijuana.
Acting on a tip that a delivery was going to be made via an unsuspecting transport company, plainclothes and uniform personnel from the Canton Police Department, joined by partners from the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Randolph and Dedham police departments, staked out the premises. At 2 p.m. on Monday, December 9, the suspect, Nicholas Farrigno, 41, pulled into the lot and took possession of nine pounds of marijuana. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law.

Compromise plan reached on subdivision road
Selectmen, the Planning Board and developer Pat Considine reached a compromise late last week on the layout for a road adjoining a new, 28-unit subdivision to Wayside Lane. Instead of an elevated traffic island on a cul de sac on the private road, a striated, slightly raised, bituminous concrete structure surrounded by granite curbing will be built.
Selectmen Chairman Sal Salvatori said everyone agreed with the suggestion, which was made by Selectman Victor Del Vecchio. Town Administrator Bill Friel said the compromise allows for the project to “move ahead while maintaining public safety as part of the new design.”
