Canton entrepreneur wins $5,000 award

Canton resident Ron Ayotte won a $5,000 prize at the Summer Accelerator Awards Ceremony hosted by Merrimack Valley Sandbox on September 10 at the Everett Mills in Lawrence.
Over 100 people were in attendance at the ceremony, which marked the conclusion of the Sandbox Summer Accelerator, a three-month program that has helped 16 early-stage entrepreneurs move their businesses and non-profits forward through workshops, mentors, space, and funding.
Stephen Kaufer, the co-founder and CEO of TripAdvisor, gave the evening’s keynote speech. Ayotte was recognized for his venture i4class, a web-based learning system that makes teachers and students more effective and engaged both in and out of the classroom.
