Deadline to obtain town election papers is Friday, Feb. 8

Town Clerk Tracy Kenney has announced that nomination papers for the April 2, 2013 annual town election will be available in the town clerk’s office beginning January 22 at 9 a.m. The last day to obtain nomination papers is February 8 at 5 p.m.

Those seeking office in the election must obtain the signatures of at least 50 registered voters in the town of Canton. The last day to file completed nomination papers with the town clerk’s office is February 11 at 5 p.m.

The offices to be contested are as follows: Board of Selectmen (one 3-year term), Board of Assessors (one 3-year term), Board of Health (one 3-year term), School Committee (two 3-year terms and two 1-year terms to fill vacancies), Planning Board (one 5-year term), Trustees of the Public Library (three 3-year terms), and Housing Authority (one 5-year term).

Note: Planning Board member Gary Vinciguerra has announced that he will not seek reelection this year.
