Open Book Coffeehouse presents Magnolia
By Canton CitizenThe Open Book Coffeehouse continues its eighth consecutive season of showcasing live, acoustic music on Saturday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m. with Cajun band Magnolia.
Since 1989, Magnolia has been New England’s hometown Cajun band. Learning their music from Louisiana’s finest, Magnolia has earned a solid reputation at home and recognition in the Cajun heartland. Their dance lessons and music have helped build a strong sense of community at festivals and fais-do-dos all over the Northeast.
Playing high energy two steps and sultry waltzes, the band’s twin fiddles, accordion, guitar, bass, and of course, rich vocals keep alive a musical traditional from Louisiana that stretches back over a century.
Enjoy the relaxing, warm atmosphere of friendly people, good music, hot coffee and homebaked goodies. Admission to the coffeehouse is $12 for adults and $6 for students. The doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the music starts at 7:30.
The Open Book Coffeehouse is located in the Community Room of the Canton Public Library at 786 Washington Street and is made possible by the Friends of the Library. Parking is to the left when facing the library from Washington Street. Enter by the “Special Events” door to the left of the columns, midway into the parking area.
