Canton dancers medal at regional competitionBy Guest
Canton’s own Dance with Spirit dance studio, located at 563 Washington Street, competed with studios from the surrounding area in the regional competition of Showstoppers, which was held at Brockton High School over the weekend of March 23-25.
Dancers from Dance with Spirit competed in solo, duet, and small groups in ages ranging from 7-18. Dancers are all local girls from Canton and Sharon.
With a First Place Platinum award in both lyrical and jazz, the Junior Company girls (7-8 years old) are Alicka Giterman, Maia Liberman, Samantha Mestler, Maili Taube, Reagan Vozzella, and Ahava Winters.
Company girls age 11 won First Place Gold in lyrical and jazz, and they are Bridgett Carroll, Michelle Delman, Tess Greenwood, Daniella Hanau, Gavi Krimsky, Arielle Liberman, and Yardana Rosenbaum.
Company girls ages 15-18 danced in lyrical and jazz as well and won First Place Gold and First Place Overall in their category. They are Brianne Carroll, Emily Ferestein, Lara Mofsowitz, Rachel Moore, Samantha Myers, and Lauren Shapiro.
Soloist Brianne Carroll, age 18, won First Place Platinum in her solo lyrical dance “No Other Way” and won First Place Overall. Ferestein and Shapiro danced a duet to “Drop in the Ocean” and won First Place Gold.
Dance with Spirit moved into its new location this past year in Canton Center. Director, owner and choreographer Amy Kellicker has been teaching dance in the area for over 17 years, and Dance with Spirit is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Miss Amy, as her students refer to her, could not be more proud of her dance company, as they medaled their way to the top.
Dance with Spirit offers classes for all ages in tap, ballet, jazz, zumba, and more. The studio can be reached at 508-524-9770 for more information, or on the web at sites.google.com/site/dancewithspiritcom.
